Vela wine Pinot nero of Loazzolo

Isol_108isolabella2

11,000 vines per hectare: the pinot nero grown with this exceptional vine density was planted in 2007 (in France and Italy, vineyards are already considered intensive from 4,500 vines per hectare). Such density forces the vines to reduce their foliage and concentrate their essences into the grapes.

In Loazzolo, where the slopes are as steep as anywhere, where thousands of vines battle for space, where full light and the magical, scented oxygenating force of the forest reign, the pinot nero vines are faithful to their ancient character, which demands more than ever that the natural balance of things be respected.

Pinot nero is an early-maturing variety, but the altitude delays this so that the grapes can take their time to ripen to perfection.

Mineral-rich soils that are poor in organic matter, day-night temperature swings, steep slopes, microclimate, and the ideal habitat to heighten the geraniol and nerol components, all contribute to making the Loazzolo Pinot Nero quite unique. As the palate fades, we are left with the delightful task of deciphering a terroir charm will forever contain an element of mystery.
